Asian Games 2026 – Aichi Nagoya 2026

In this edition, we bring you updates on the preparations for Aichi/Nagoya 2026 as well as a closer look at 10 proposed competition venues. The latest issue also highlights the importance of the Asian Games as a platform to promote cultural connection and global understanding, while highlighting two sports – sport climbing and skateboarding – that will be featured at this edition.

The 2026 Asian Games (Aichi/Nagoya 2026) will be held from September 19 to October 4, 2026 and co-hosted by Aichi Prefecture and its capital Nagoya city. The event is regarded as Asia’s largest multi-sport extravaganza and is organized by the Olympic Council of Asia.

In addition to a variety of traditional sports, the Games will feature a number of medal-contending esports events. The list of titles includes Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, DOTA 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, PUBG and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition. India is expected to have a competitive presence in these events, with Pavan Kampelli winning bronze at the Hangzhou Asian Games in eFootball and S8UL competing at a high level in League of Legends.

The Organising Committee has also confirmed that cricket and mixed martial arts have been added to the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 programme, although open water swimming has been removed due to the lack of available facilities in the host prefecture. The Organising Committee is currently exploring the possibility of staging the event in neighbouring municipalities, such as Sano, Tochigi Prefecture.
