Formula 1 Standings

Formula 1 standings are updated after each Grand Prix and give fans a chance to track the progress of their favorite driver or team throughout the season. The results from each race contribute to a live ranking, with consistency often more important than individual victories.

The winner of a race scores 25 points, while second place earns 18 and third receives 15. Each of the top 10 drivers receives points, down to tenth place who gets one point for finishing the race. The highest scoring team at the end of the season wins the FIA Formula 1 World Constructors Championship.

During the history of F1, there have been many pivotal moments that have changed how rankings look. From rule changes boosting overtaking opportunities to technological advances altering speed landscapes, the rankings have constantly evolved.

Despite being the sport’s ultimate competition, Formula 1 is a team game in which all aspects of the car, from the engine and strategy to the pit crew and drivers play their part. The constructors’ championship, based on the combined total of each team’s two drivers, reflects this collaborative nature and celebrates the efforts of all teams.

A prestigious award, the Constructors’ Championship is won by the team with the most points at the end of the season. There have been 19 different winners of the title since it was first introduced, with Ferrari holding the most titles with 16, followed by McLaren and Williams who each won nine, and Mercedes winning eight consecutively between 2014-2021.
