QUEENS — The US Open returns to Flushing Meadows this year with Venus Williams back on the tennis circuit at 45, a slew of exciting players and plenty of storylines. With singles play set to get underway Sunday and Jannik Sinner facing off against Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s final, this is poised to be one of the most competitive tournaments in years.
With a number of changes to the schedule, including the move to a 15-day competition that brings it in line with the French and Australian Opens, there is much to look forward to this season. Among the other new features: the US Open is now played on hard courts, video review has been expanded to all 17 competition courts and night sessions are part of the mix.
The tournament will also host a series of free events and a qualifying competition that takes place before the main draw begins. For those unable to make the trip to Queens, ESPN will carry most of the matches, with coverage varying by country.
For those looking to watch as many matches as possible, a grounds pass is the best option. These tickets give you access to all the outer courts and Louis Armstrong Stadium. They don’t include seating in Arthur Ashe or the Grandstand, but plopping down by the fountains south of the stadium is a great spot to catch all the action.
On the men’s side, 2024 runner-up Taylor Fritz and rising star Frances Tiafoe join a deep American contingent. Rising talents Alex Michelsen, Learner Tien and Brandon Nakashima will all be hoping to add another Grand Slam to their résumés.
